Lake Cowichan RCMP is asking for the public's help solving arsons case

Lake Cowichan RCMP is asking for the public's help in solving a series of arsons.

At approximately 6:00 in the evening of Thursday, August 22nd, RCMP were called to the area of Skultz Falls and May Road, where three fires were burning. Officers believe they were deliberately started, and thanks to quick action from bystanders in the area, the fires were quickly extinguished.

At the time of the incident, a white man riding a BMX bicycle was seen in the area, and the RCMP would like the public's help in locating him.

The man had left the scene before officers arrived, but bystanders described him as skinny with dark hair, and he was wearing black pants and a fedora style hat.  He's believed to have some facial hair as well.

Lake Cowichan RCMP is asking anyone with information related to the fires, or the man's identity or whereabouts, to contact them at 250-749-6668.
