Price of alcohol set to jump in April

beer

A price hike is looming on craft beer, wine & other spirits.

The annual 'automatic escalator tax' on alcohol will be applied starting April 1st across Canada.

The increase will amount to pennies per litre: Wine will climb about two cents. Beer will jump four cents.

The tax is based on the percentage of alcohol in the beverage.

Canadian distillers complain the increase isn't voted on -- and they want it dumped.
