RCMP officers injured in standoff on Sunday near Sidney

Sidney North Saanich RCMP have one man in custody following a standoff at a residence south of Sidney.

The incident occurred on Sunday April 7, as police attempted to execute an arrest warrant on a man at a home on Maryland Drive.

The suspect assaulted an officer before barricading himself inside the house with a female.

Officers from both the Sidney North Saanich RCMP and the Central Saanich Police Department secured the area.

A member of the RCMP Crisis Negotiation team made contact with the man, prior to frontline officers entering the home.

A second RCMP officer was injured in the course of the arrest.
