West Shore RCMP issue warning after two pedestrian related incidents on roads

West Shore RCMP are appealing to drivers on information or dash cam video of two incidents involving pedestrians last week.

The first involves a 90-year-old View Royal woman who was walking on Island Hwy at Wilfert Road just after 6 p.m. last Wednesday night...

Visibility was poor at the time - with heavy rain falling.

The senior was rushed to Victoria General Hospital - but died the following day.

Investigators later determined the woman's injuries were as a result of her falling, and no collision actually occurred.

An alert driver had swerved to avoid the woman after she fell.

Then just before 10 a.m. Friday morning a pedestrian was struck in a marked crosswalk at Jenkins Ave and Merchant Way in Langford.

They suffered injuries but are expected to make a full recovery.

The collision is under investigation and the driver may face charges.

Anyone with dash cam video of either of these occurrences is asked to contact  West Shore RCMP.
