Kulmala acknowledges that the number of building permits value has gone up about 65% from last year. Kulmala notes that most of the new developments will be residential and commercial spaces will follow.

Mayor Young stresses that their local police force has been working well for their communities and is skeptical that a Province wide reform may not be as simple or effective as the existing system. Additional, Mayor Young speaks about the various development plans for Langford including more spaces for daycares and doctor offices. Afterwards, Brian Holowaychuk, owner of the Grouse Nest resort in Sooke chats with Rob about the on-going project of repurposing a Sooke resort to provide Ukrainian refugees with temporary sheltering. Holowaychuk says that they have been able to welcome a couple families to the space so far but, due to complexities at boarders and airports, refugees are having difficulties making it to the area.

Korzinski acknowledges that there was a rise in fire arm offense during the pandemic, doubling since 2015. Korzinski also shares that B.C. residents were the just behind Ontario in supporting the federal use of the Emergency Act, both provinces were both close to 50% in support.

Alec Rossa, President of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church joins Rob to speak about the family that was subjects to an arson attack on their home nearly one month ago. Rossa notes that the family is recovering and have a housing space lined up for June but are still seeking finical and item donations as most of their belongings were destroyed.
