In 2016 Al Ferraby started Al’s $21 for 21km in support of his annual half marathon fundraising run for CFAX Santas Anonymous. Al hosts a mini radiothon on CFAX 1070 each year before the run to raise money for children’s programs asking for $1.00 for every km he runs. Since then Al has raised $143,370.00. Tune into CFAX 1070 radio on Friday May 21, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to sponsor Al or donate now, online below or call in to 778-561-1070. Visit cfaxsantas.com and learn how your pledge will help local children and youth. Al's run will take place May 23rd and will be streamed on Facebook @cfaxsantas including his big finish with Santa Bear!
The 2021 Oak Bay Half Marathon has gone VIRTUAL. Participants who chose to defer in 2020 can register for 2021 or defer for one more year to 2022, after which deferrals will be expired.
For 2021, we have added a 5k option to the pre-existing Half-Marathon and 10k.
The event typically starts at the beautiful Windsor Park in Oak Bay and winds its way through the heart of Oak Bay’s shopping district. The course then loops out and back along the scenic seaside route of Beach Drive. For the virtual edition, head out in your own community and complete your virtual challenge on your own course or follow along with one of our routes.

BC Children's Hospital Foundation is The Bottle Depot's Charity of the Month. For the month of April drop off your returnable containers to one of the three Bottle Depot Charity Bin locations located at Quadra St, Queens St and Glanford in support of BC Children's Hospital Foundation. This a cashless, no out-of-pocket expense, and easy way for folks to donate to this amazing cause during these challenging economic times. This helps drive the recovery rate of these recyclable materials – shockingly, an average 1 million refundable beverage containers go missing every single day in BC to either the landfill or the environment! A staggering fact which represents $100,000 a day worth of refundable beverage containers that is literally being thrown away or littered across our beautiful province. Be part of the green solution and retain these funds for important local causes! In the CRD alone, on average $8k per day worth of refundable beverage containers is being thrown away into the landfill or littered into the environment, while $3k a day is being in appropriately recycled in curbside blue box, benefiting Recycle BC, ultimately an Ontario corp, with those monies going off Island. That’s $11k per day, or $4 million dollars per year, being lost in the CRD! We NEED to change this behavior! If folks don’t want those monies for themselves, now a material amount given a typical household’s bi-weekly consumption, then to PLEASE, PLEASE donate them to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation instead! Keep these funds local and this recyclable material out of the landfill and our environment as well!
