Artists brighten streets of Montreal, set performance to Beatles track
This past weekend, residents of Montreal's Villeray and Rosemont neighbourhoods may have looked out their window to spot someone walking around in a human-sized rainbow costume.
The costume and subsequent music video were created by Gabrielle Poulin, an actress and performance artist, and Antonin Gougeon, a sound and video designer.
The 2 artists were inspired by the "ça va bien aller" ("it's going to be okay") rainbow campaign which is meant to encourage positivity and hope during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Poulin and Gougeon were also motivated by the NICE TRY (belessai) art challenge which summons performance artists to create a new piece of art in under 48 hours.
The 2 artists made sure to compile footage of their art work and eventually created a video montage set to Gougeon's slowed down cover of The Beatles' "Here Comes The Sun".
Poulian and Gougeon documented their project on Instagram as well: @arcencielbalade.
