WATCH: Green Day captivates audience at 110th Grey Cup halftime show
The 110th Grey Cup took place this past weekend in Hamilton and this year's halftime show entertainment was provided by none other than Green Day.
The band emerged onto the Grey Cup stage with "The American Dream Is Killing Me," a track from their forthcoming album Saviors. The set continued with Green Day staples, "Basket Case", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", and "Holiday".
The band also made waves on social media after lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong grabbed a phone from a fan in the audience during "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".
Green Day's perfomance at the Grey Cup comes in anticipation of the band's upcoming stadium tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 3rd studio album, Dookie. The tour kicks off in May 2024 in Spain. Canadian dates include Toronto on Aug. 1 and Montreal on Aug. 3.
Green Day's fourteenth studio album, Saviors, is set to be released on Jan. 19, 2024.
And what about the Grey Cup? The Montreal Alouettes won 28-24 over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
