Heading to Deerhurst Resort and Hidden Valley/Muskoka Ski Club

The NEWSTALK ski team is on the move this weekend heading well north to Muskoka and enjoying two of the areas crown jewels..Deerhurst Resort and Hidden Valley/Muskoka Ski Club all overlooking beautiful Peninsula Lake.

Both have steeped tradition and history in north Muskoka with Deerhurst dating back to 1896 when a room, for a week with meals was $3.50... to the newly formed Muskoka Ski Club at Hidden Valley dating back to 1965 founded by Bill Waterhouse and Ed Seagram.

The ski resort became semi private back in 1971 and since welcomed members and guests with open arms.  Memberships are still available and for a family it's one of the best deals in the Province with average snow fall at 10ft making for longer seasons then most areas.

There's 4 chairs and 15 slopes which is perfect for family fun or that teenager thats loves steep and speed.  There's a hill for everyone in the family and a great kitchen to enjoy home cooked meals...I really love the chalet atmosphere and welcoming friendly staff....Hidden Valley truly is a family friendly resort.

Deerhurst continues to expand with 400 rooms and past home to world famous entertainer Shania Twain, who started her career on center stage.

As for winter activities, due to Covid there's a number of restrictions so check before driving up but right now there's trail lite shoe shoe/hiking..the skating rink and snowmobile tours are done for the season but all will return next season.  The pool is open but restricted to 10 people with reservations required while restaurants are also limited to 10 people a night..again with reservations and they're busy and if you can get in try the Eclipse dining room..you won't be disappointed.

If you can't get into the restaurants, let the restaurant come to your room..All the same great food will be delivered right to your room to enjoy with entire family or romantic evening with all the quality you'd expect from the main dining room or kitchen...Matter a fact, any meal will be delivered right to your room for convenience and ease without compromise of any meal expectations.  I also don't want to set any expectations while both attractions remain in Covid protocol.  There are expected and mandatory restrictions like any other resort you visit but once you understand and play by the rules like everybody else it's still a fantastic way to spend a weekend or week.  The staff will do everything they can to make your stay safe and enjoyable.

Talking with Deerhurst General Manager Laura Kennedy,  she tells me there's incredible interest in booking spring and summer vacations already for any one of their rooms from standard to newly renovated suites and lake front cottages...again all overlooking beautiful Peninsula Lake

What's really impressive as management continues to evolve with Covid restrictions..curbside check in which I can see in the future.  An attendant will check you in right from you vehicle then direct to your room.. Thats a sweet way to check in for sure.. In the summer, there's two golf courses..an 18 championship course and shorter 18 hole executive course both overlooking Peninsula Lake.

We're looking forward to a great weekend of Muskoka scenery, fresh air and hospitality at two of my favourite destinations.  Both are fantastic places to visit or take a leisurely drive to enjoy amazing scenery and some fresh air.

Once again, pre-book lift tickets because there are no daily sales. Watch for the NEWSTALK Pizzaville Audi Etron at both facilities to win a $50 gift card from Pizzaville all brought to you by Pizzaville...Have a great weekend..see you at Hidden Valley.
