Wolfgang Van Halen Slams Guitar Auction

Wolfgang Van Halen has distanced himself from an auction of guitars linked to his late father Eddie Van Halen this week and called the timing “a little fishy.”

The 29-year-old musician said he had nothing to do with the sale of three guitars by Julien’s Auctions.

“I would never sell any of my father’s guitars,” Wolfgang wrote in an Instagram post. “They are priceless to me. They belong in a museum if anything.”

According to Julien’s Auctions, the guitars fetched a total of $422,000 U.S. One was a scaled-down prop used by a child actor in the “Hot For Teacher” video.

“I thought that this was a charity auction, but it wasn’t,” Wolfgang wrote. “Just people taking advantage of the situation and selling anything that had to do with my father.”

On Twitter, Wolfgang fumed: “They’re just taking advantage of my father’s passing. What a surprise. F**k ‘em.”

Eddie Van Halen died in October at 65.
