LOCAL NB POWER SCAM

Once again, the public is warned about regional scams. NB Power has received a number of complaints about unknown persons making fraudulent telephone calls from a 1-800 number, in which the caller identifies themselves as a representative from NB Power, calling to say that money is owed on their account.  The caller informs the resident they must pay immediately with a credit card or their power will be shut off.  Anyone who receives this type of telephone call should hang up on the caller and report immediately to law enforcement and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (Toll free 1-888-495-8501).  Under no circumstances should anyone provide their financial information over the telephone to a complete stranger.  If you doubt you are speaking with an NB Power employee, contact NB Power toll-free at 1- 800- 663- 6272 or by email at customerservices@nbpower.com.

REMEMBER:  With school started, our streets have a higher than normal number of children walking or riding their bicycles to school.  Drivers are asked to be more alert to them crossing our streets, particularly in school areas.  Drive carefully and responsibly.
