City offering $8 valet parking for downtown shoppers

With major construction going on downtown, finding good parking is nearly as impossible as every Canadian team making the NHL playoffs.

In a bid to make life easier for Montrealers looking to spend their weekend shopping downtown the city recently launched a valet parking service.

For $15, you can drop your car off at the intersections of Sainte-Catherine and Mansfield, or de Maisonneuve and Bleury someone will park your car for you. The price of parking drops to $8 with a validation stamp from a business affected by the ongoing roadwork.

While it's a popular complaint from Montrealers that Mayor Valerie Plante and Projet Montreal are anti-car, Robert Beaudry, a Ville-Marie city councillor told CTV all modes of transportation are welcome.

"Our mayor was very clear when she started her mandate that we want to promote every kind of mobility," Beaudry said.

The Sainte-Catherine street revamp will force more closures before it's completed in 2021.
