Gas leak near Atwater metro station disrupts metro service
Service has resumed on the metro's Green Line following a gas leak near the corner of Atwater Ave. and De Maisonneuve Blvd. on Tuesday morning.
Montreal fire officials say the problem started at around 9:30 a.m., when a worker snagged a gas line. Just before 1:30 p.m., the fire department announced the leak had been capped.
The STM halted service on the Green Line shortly afterward, between the Angrignon and Berri-UQAM stations. Service resumed shortly after noon, through trains skipped the Atwater station until about 1:45 p.m.
The gas leak also forced the evacuation of nearby Dawson College.
