Man says anti-psychotic meds turned him into gambling addict

Abilify

A Quebec man is sounding the alarm about an unwanted side effect to taking the anti-psychotic medication Abilify.

25-year old Simon Bergeron says Abilify turned him into a compulsive gambler and he squandered $25,000 dollars in just a few months playing online casino games.

Health Canada did issue a warning in 2015 that the medication may be associated with compulsive behaviours including gambling and promiscuity.  A class action lawsuit is being organized..

For his part, Bergeron tells the Journal de Montreal that he is off Abilify and is no longer feeling the compulsive need to gamble.
