SAQ increases wine prices by 5¢ to $2.20
If you enjoy a good bottle of wine you might want to bring some extra change with you the next time you visit the SAQ.
The Crown Corporation recently raised the prices on more than 1,200 wines, including many from the best-sellers list.
The majority of increases are about 20 cents, but according to VinQuébec.com the overall jump varies from five cents to $2.20 (Château De Chamirey Mercurey 2014).
A spokesperson for the Crown Corporation said the increase was due to the exchange rate with the euro and the US dollar, a request from its suppliers and an increase in the federal excise tax rate on April 1.
