Biz Nasty Got A Tryout With A Pro Lacrosse Team, Just By Talking Sh*t
I can hear the skeptics already, so let’s get this out of the way. Yes, this probably isn’t real. But while it may be choreographed, it’s also very, very smart. There’s a newish lacrosse team in Vancouver, and they’re attracting a bunch of attention, thanks to one of hockey’s greatest social media darlings.
Let’s rewind. It all started with Paul “Biz Nasty” Bissonette, doing what he does best. Talking some shit.
I legitimately believe I could make an @NLL lacrosse team as a walk-on without having ever played a game.— Paul Bissonnette (@BizNasty2point0) November 13, 2019
But then, the Vancouver Warriors bit the hook.
Biz clapped back.
Just a reminder that in my last season in the NHL I was in the top 10 in points per 60 minutes played 5v5. I’m sure @mirtle could help me out on proving this with analytical evidence. https://t.co/XGzBOLWMwc— Paul Bissonnette (@BizNasty2point0) November 13, 2019
As did the Warriors.
Those HOCKEY stats might be impressive (to some 🙄). Bet it doesn't translate on the turf.— Vancouver Warriors (@nllwarriors) November 13, 2019
Show up or shut up? 🥍 > 🏒
And lo and behold, Biz has a PTO with the Vancouver Warriors.
Of course, this is the kind of buzz that’s really, really good for a newish lacrosse team, especially when lacrosse isn’t exactly the hottest ticket in Vancouver. The Canucks bought the franchise last year, moved them to Langley, and rebranded them from the Stealth to the Warriors. Having a big time hockey social media guy like Biz Nasty talking lacrosse to his more than one million Twitter followers? That’s really good for the franchise, the sport, and makes this thing a big win already. Should be fun to see how this plays out.
