In 1980, Brian Johnson was asked to head down to London (from Liverpool) to audition for AC/DC who just months earlier lost their lead singer Bon Scott who was found dead in his car.

Brian who was a little bitter towards the music industry after his band Georgie never took off declined.

As luck will have it, Brian was then asked to voice a commercial in London and he managed to find a ride for the 3 hour trip.

After the voicing the commercial (watch below) he noticed that he was really close to where AC/DC were rehearsing and decided to head over. And as Brian Johnson has said before, he walked through the doors into a new life.

A few weeks later AC/DC with their new singer started working on the album Back In Black and by June they were touring.

The first show with Brian was in Namur, Belgium on June 29, 1980 at the city's Palais Des Expositions. And that's where the statue of Brian Johnson was unveiled earlier today!

AC/DC will be playing live for the first time in a few years in October as they are part of Power Trip with Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Tool, Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne!
