Federal Labour Minister Filomena Tassi toured DJB Mining Products and Services in Timmins Monday after making a funding announcement on behalf of FedNor.

Since 2012, the company has experienced growth and is operating around the clock daily.

Recently, DJB applied for funding from FedNor to help it meet the needs of its clients.

Tassi announced a repayable contribution of $606,827 on behalf of FedNor to enable the company to purchase some equipment and improve its ventilation system.

The company offers a wide range of services:

  • custom welding and fabrication services
  • bucket and heavy equipment repairs
  • customized tractors for the mining industry

Prior to the announcement, Tassi also held a round table discussion with some members of the Timmins Chamber of Commerce to find out how the federal government can assist employers with mental health matters in the workplace.

Tassi told the group, "500,000 Canadians miss work daily due to their mental health."

This is a developing story. More to come…
