A woman from Garson swerved to a avoid a moose late Tuesday evening on Highway 535 north of Noelville.

The SUV skidded into a nearby pond and began to sink, Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police said Wednesday.

"The 37-year-old driver from Garson was able to climb on the roof of SUV before it became submerged," police said in a tweet.

The French River Fire Department rescued the driver.
