A 30-year-old Moncton, N.B. man is facing several charges including attempted murder, in connection with a shooting incident that happened in Dieppe in November 2019.

On November 9, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m. police responded to a call that a firearm had been discharged inside a residence on Chartersville Road in Dieppe.

A 28-year-old man was injured in the incident and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 29-year-old man was arrested a short distance from the residence, and was held in custody for breaching conditions of his parole.

On Thursday, 30-year-old Devlin Earl Edward O'Blenis appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of video conference and was charged with the following offences:

  • attempted murder by discharging a restricted or prohibited firearm
  • attempted murder by discharging a firearm with intent to kill
  • having discharged a restricted or prohibited firearm with intent to wound or endanger a life (two counts)
  • aggravated assault

O'Blenis remains in custody, and is scheduled to appear in court on October 29.
