The Canadian Armed Forces will be conducting field training in Sault Ste. Marie on Nov. 7-8.

The 49th Field Regiment will be in various locations in the city, involving 50 army reservists. The unit will conduct training with service rifles and will include the deployment of 105mm Howitzers. No ammunition is being used during the exercise.

"The purpose of this exercise is so that soldiers can practise their tactics and drills prior to conducting a live-fire exercise at a later date in a separate location," the armed forces said in a news release Tuesday. "The public is advised that they will see military vehicles travelling in groups during these dates that include Pine Street North of Wellington Avenue, 2nd Line East/West, Peoples Road, Goulais Avenue, 3rd & 4th Line and Airport Road."

Motorist are asked to be cautious as the unit will travel in groups on public streets, carrying their service rifles without ammunition.
