A house fire in south-central Windsor saw a heavy response by firefights on Friday afternoon.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire in the 1700 block of Dominion Boulevard shortly before 2:30 p.m.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services reports oily rags in the kitchen ignited and sparked the fire.

Investigators have determined the fire to be accidental.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

The roadway was closed between Totten Street and Arcadia Street during the busy period when students returned home from school while crews dealt with the fire.
