One person has been taken to Health Sciences North with serious injuries following a weapons complaint Thursday evening on Kathleen Street in Greater Sudbury.

"The area has been cleared," police tweeted. "However (the) investigation is continuing as a 36-year-old male has suffered serious injuries and has been transported to HSN for medical attention."

Police haven't yet said how the man was injured or whether any charges are pending in connection with the incident.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the Kathleen Street area while Greater Sudbury Police respond to a weapons complaint.

"Heavy police presence in the area of Kathleen Street responding to a weapons complaint," police tweeted early Thursday evening. "Please avoid the area if possible. Investigation is ongoing."
