An 80-year-old driver from Markstay is facing charges following a collision Tuesday morning involving a school bus and a pickup truck.

The Warren detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received the call at 7:10 a.m. about the crash, which took place on Highway 17, near Sutcliffe Road in Markstay-Warren.

"Investigation revealed the pickup truck was eastbound in the passing lane, behind a tractor-trailer, while the school bus was eastbound in the right lane," police said in a news release. "As the tractor-trailer slowed down to make a left turn, the pickup truck moved over into the right lane and struck the school bus."

There were no children onboard the bus and both drivers were not injured.

The driver of the pickup is charged with an illegal lane change.
