Winnipeg police say officers were responding to a ‘potentially serious incident’ in the Riverview neighbourhood of the city Monday afternoon.

Officers were seen responding in the 100 block of Maplewood Avenue around 1 p.m. on Monday. Winnipeg police told CTV News the officers closed the area to the public and a nearby school had been placed into hold and secure.

Multiple police officers were seen responding in the area near one house which had a broken window. Police cruisers completely blocked Maplewood Avenue to Fisher Street, and an ambulance was also spotted on scene.

Shortly after 3 p.m., police said the road was reopened and a residence in the area had been cleared. Police would not provide further information about the incident
