TIMMINS – The ever popular Pet Pics with Santa photoshoot hosted by the Timmins and District Human Society took place this weekend.

There were ugly Christmas sweaters and animals dressed up in things they'd rather not wear, but there is nothing cheesy about wanting a family photo with beloved fur babies.

"Well, they were our first children. They've been with us for 10, 12 years now so they were just always part of our best adventures so wherever we go, they come with us and this is just part of it," said one attendee.

Humane Society officials say this is their favourite time of year. They say hundreds of people come to support the cause and despite the mixed crowd, everyone gets along.

"Everyone's having a good time and it naturally works out. Number one visitors are dogs, but we go get the odd cat, even bunnies. We've had ferrets before. We've even had a snake or two," said Alicia Santamaria, Timmins and District Humane Society.

New this year is the Grinch. The Timmins Humane Society said they didn't have much of a problem talking him into joining, and it's really added an atmosphere of fun to the event.

"We've seen pictures before with the Grinch and dogs and we just die laughing because it's just so cute," said Santamaria.

Also new this year, people were asked to bring in their own USB key to save their photos. Organizers say it's more eco-friendly and it means more proceeds.

The Humane Society raised around $5,000 and officials say all proceeds help pay for animal surgeries and care.
