Two people are dead after a two-vehicle collision in Mississauga Thursday evening.
Peel police were called to the intersection of Bristol Road West and Segriff Drive, east of Creditview Road, around 7:45 p.m.
A truck and another vehicle were involved in the crash, police said.
Const. Heather Cannon said two people were pronounced dead at the scene. The ages and genders of the victims have not been released.
The Major Collision Bureau is investigating the cause of the collision.
Cannon said the roads in the area will be closed for quite some time.
Manuel Alfonso, who drove by the area around the time of the crash, said the damage was extensive.
"The whole side of the passenger's side, front and back door, was all pushed in almost to the driver's side," he said.
Alfonso noted that someone tried to help and open the vehicle's doors but they couldn't because he said the doors were jammed up and twisted.
Another witness, Akeem Brisco, was driving on Terry Fox Way, a short distance away, when he heard a loud noise.
"As soon as I drove up, there were around six or seven people stopped already," Brisco said.
"We tried to open the door because we saw the two persons in the car."
Brisco said another person tried to open the doors with a crowbar, but it did not work.
He noted that the doors were "glued together" as a result of the crash.
"I was trying to help them out because we didn't know if they were still alive or breathing," Brisco said.
"We tried to pull the windshield off, and they wouldn't come off either."
A short time later, he said police and ambulances started to arrive, and they took over.
Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has a dash-cam video to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
