Hard rockers Avenged Sevenfold held a show last night (Feb. 21) in Stuttgart, Germany. The show ended well, but as a crew was dismantling the band’s stage, one of the stagehands fell from the rafters while trying to take down the front lighting truss and crushed a 19-year-old man below. He was a member of the local crew hired to take down the stage following the concert.
“This is beyond heartbreaking to everyone in the band and on our crew,” the band wrote in a Facebook post. “We all send our thoughts and prayers to the man in the hospital, both families involved, all of the local Live Nation crew and everyone else whose lives have been affected by this terrible accident.”
Disturbed, who are co-headlining with Avenged Sevenfold on their European tour, posted a similar message to Facebook. “We love and cherish all those dedicated crew members that are responsible for making the show happen day in and day out, and this horrible tragedy is almost too much to bear. We dedicate the rest of this tour to our fallen brothers. Life is precious and can end in an instant. Make every moment of yours count.”
Tonight’s concert in Milan, Italy, has been cancelled due to M. Shadows suffering from laryngitis. The tour resumes in Europe and continues through Mar. 10.
