Winners of the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Awards will be announced on social media over the Labour Day weekend.
Canadian artists, including Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber, are among the nominees who have waited since January to find out if they won.
The show, scheduled to take place on March 29 in Los Angeles with Usher hosting, was postponed on March 16 due to COVID-19. On Monday, it was cancelled.
Mendes is up for Male Artist of the Year and his collaboration with Camila Cabello, “Señorita,” is nominated for Song, Collaboration, Lyrics, Music Video and Music Video Choreography. Mendes’ contribution to Taylor Swift’s “Lover” is up for Best Remix and the Mendes Army is vying for Best Fan Army.
The singer has earned 16 previous nominations but has never won.
Bieber, who has collected five iHeartRadio Music Awards since 2016, has noms this year for Best Collaboration and Best Music Video (“I Don’t Care” by Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber) and Best Remix (“bad guy” by Billie Eilish ft. Justin Bieber) and Best Lyrics (“10,000 Hours” by Dan + Shay ft. Justin Bieber). His Beliebers are up for Best Fan Army.
Drake is in the running for Hip-Hop Artist of the Year and his name is on a pair of nominated tracks in both the Hip-Hop Song of the Year and R&B Song of the Year categories.
Other Canadian nominees include Loud Luxury for Dance Song of the Year (“Body” ft. brando) and Dance Artist of the Year as well as Frank Dukes for Songwriter of the Year.
Snow is named in noms for both Latin Pop/Urban Song of the Year and Best Remix (“Con Calma” by Daddy Yankee & Katy Perry ft. Snow) as well as Best Music Video (“Con Calma” by Daddy Yankee & Snow).
In the rock categories, Canada’s The Glorious Sons earned noms for Best New Rock/Alternative Rock Artist and Rock Song of the Year for “S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun).”
The iHeartRadio Music Awards honour last year’s most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations in the U.S. and on the app. The winners of some categories were determined by fan voting.
