Just two weeks ago 21 Savage released a new album, American Dream, which was supposed to be accomapnied by a new biopic starring Donald Glover. But apparently we're only getting the album. For now.
This week the Atlanta-based rapper appeared on former NFL star Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast and admitted the biopic, which he cut a trailer for starring Glover and Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin, is not real.
"Nah, that was a parody," he said in response to Sharpe's question. "I feel like it could be [a real movie] one day. They'll hate on it now though ... because they're gonna be like, 'What the fuck 21 Savage deserve a story for?'"
Although 21 Savage doesn't sound totally convinced his life would make for a good movie, Sharpe argues that it's about "migrating to America and becoming an American success story."
Based on the trailer alone, he's put together a convincing argument to follow through with a full-length feature. Watch it below and decide for yourself.
