Canadian talent will shine Nov. 6 at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Justin Bieber, Drake, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd are four of the five nominees in the Best Male category and all of them are up against Alessia Cara for Best Canadian Act.
With three additional nominations, Bieber is tied with Beyonce for top spot. The 22-year-old Ontario native is also in the running for Best Song (“Sorry”), Best Pop and Biggest Fans.
Drake, 29, is up for Best Male and Best Hip Hop and shares a nomination with Rihanna in the Best Song category for “Work.” The video for the track was filmed in Drake’s hometown Toronto.
Mendes, 18, could also collect awards for Best Pop and Biggest Fans, while The Weeknd, 26, has an extra nod for Best Video (“Starboy”).

Both are from the Toronto area, as is 20-year-old Cara, who is nominated in the Best Push category.

The only artist challenging the Canadians for Best Male is Scottish producer Calvin Harris.
In the Best Pop category, Bieber and Mendes are up against American acts Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, Rihanna and Selena Gomez.
Other nominees include Adele, Kanye West, Sia, Lady Gaga and Coldplay. Europe is represented by David Guetta, Zara Larsson, Lukas Graham, Afrojack and Martin Garrix.
The MTV Europe Music Awards, determined by fan votes, will be handed out Nov. 6 in Rotterdam.
