50 Cent's "In Da Club" has officially reached diamond status, according to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
More than 20 years after its release, the breakout hit by Eminem's protégé (real name Curtis Jackson) has sold over 10 million units. In an Instagram post, 50 Cent points out that "In Da Club" is "the 43rd Hip Hop song to go Diamond, 121 songs of all time to do it." See the post below.
"In Da Club" was the second single lifted from the rapper's major label debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin' . The song immediately catapulted Fiddy to fame, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning him Best Rap Video and Best New Artist at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.
The song was recently featured on iHeartRadio Canada's new podcast series, Encore: The Stories Behind The Songs You Love, which looks at the true story of "In Da Club" complete with unearthed footage from 50 Cent at the time.
50 Cent is currently in Europe finishing up The Final Lap Tour, which ends its run in Abu Dhabi on December 21.
