Aaron Carter opened up late Saturday about his sexuality, revealing that he is attracted to both men and women.
The singer, who had early success with hits like “I Want Candy” and “Aaron’s Party,” said on Twitter: “There’s something I’d like to say that I feel is important for myself and my identity that has been weighing on my chest for nearly half of my life.”
Carter, 29, wrote: ‘When I was around 13-years-old I started to find boys and girls attractive.”
He said when he was 17 he had “an experience with a male that I had an attraction to who I also worked with and grew up with.”
Carter said being bisexual “doesn’t bring me shame” and said keeping his secret was “a weight and burden.”
The pop star ended his message by quoting Boy George. “I’ve never felt as though I didn’t belong, I just acted as if I did.”
