Jagged Little Pill, the rock musical based on Alanis Morissette’s breakout – and groundbreaking – 1995 album, will open on Broadway this fall.

On Monday, the Ottawa-born singer tweeted: “#beyondexcited”

Jagged Little Pill had a sold-out, 10-week run last year in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but producers said some revisions are being made ahead of its Broadway debut.

Directed by Diane Paulus and written by Diablo Cody, the show features songs from Jagged Little Pill and Morissette’s other albums. It follows a suburban family forced to confront their painful truths.

Morissette, 44, and Glen Ballard wrote hits like “You Oughta Know” and “Hand in my Pocket” on her Jagged Little Pill album, which won five Grammys and became one of the highest-selling albums ever by a female artist.

Her first release in the U.S., it was Morissette’s third studio album in Canada.

The musical’s dates, cast and theatre will be announced soon.
