Alanis Morissette will be honoured next month with the Icon Award at the Billboard Women in Music gala.
The 45-year-old Ottawa native is the fifth artist to receive the award and the second Canadian, after Shania Twain in 2016.
According to Billboard, Morissette is being recognized for her “continuing contribution to the music industry over a career spanning decades with 21 million albums sold to date.”
Morrissette has collected dozens of awards, including 12 Junos and seven Grammys. She was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2005 and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
The Women in Music event will stream live from the Hollywood Palladium on Dec. 12.
Nicki Minaj is being honoured with the Game Changer award and Brandi Carlile will receive the Trailblazer award.
Billboard will soon announce its pick for Woman of the Year, an award that went to Ariana Grande in 2018, and for the Rising Star award, which went to Hayley Kiyoko last year.
