Did you know Alessia Cara was once a SickKids patient?
The Brampton, Ontario singer visited the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children last Monday, on the tail of her performance at the Jingle Ball in Florida.
Cara was hospitalized there as a two year-old toddler for a surgery to remove saliva glands from her mouth. Duracell donated $180,000 to SickKids in her name. During the whole month of December, Duracell will donate to the Children's Miracle Network for every pack of batteries purchased at Walmart.
A group of patients was able to hear her sing 'Scars To Your Beautiful,' and also some Christmas carols.
"I think that all of us, whether we believe it or not, we're all beautiful in so many different ways," said the singer.
The young woman is mature enough to realize her influence on her fans is a great opportunity to spread positivity and self-love. She recently told CBC Toronto's Dwight Drummond: "I'm fortunate enough to have this platform now to be able to speak on things and have people listen."
Cara has been busy lately, touring, performing at various Jingle Balls around the U.S. She also recently released an emotional video for her hit 'Seventeen.'
