Producers have pulled the plug on plans for a tour featuring a hologram of singer Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011.
“In developing the type of highly ambitious, state-of-the-art hologram/augmented reality theatrical event that would truly capture her genius and incredible artistic and social contributions, we have encountered some unique challenges and sensitivities,” read a statement by BASE Hologram via Twitter.
“We are putting the tour on hold until we determine the best path to a creatively spectacular production that wold properly honour Amy’s legacy at its highest caliber.”
BASE announced last October that it would launch the tour in late 2019. It promised to have a hologram of Winehouse projected onto a stage backed by a live band and singers.
The Grammy-winning singer died at age 27 of alcohol poisoning. She released only two albums and had hit singles like “Rehab” and “You Know I’m No Good.”
