If André 3000 gets his way, there could be a new OutKast album coming at some point.
Only one month after dropping his long-awaited debut album, New Blue Sun, André 3000 (real name André Benjamin) is already teasing the possibility of a new album by the influential ATL duo.
In conversation with CBS Mornings, the rapper/flautist was asked by host Anthony Mason if he and Big Boi had discussed an OutKast reunion, to which replied, “No. To be honest, no,” before adding that he and his partner in rhyme are “still close.”
He then elaborated, saying, “But I think because he knows who I am, and knows what gets me going, he knows what inspires me, he knows when I’m excited about something. You know what I mean?”
Benjamin added that neither he nor Big Boi (Antwan Patton) have brought up recording a follow-up album to 2006's Idlewild, which was technically a soundtrack to their movie. But he appears interested in pursuing the idea.
“So I think in that sense, he’s never pushed that issue," he said. "But I’m sure, like… I want another OutKast album. Yeah, like in my mind – but see, that’s the thing. That’s the human side. I want[ed] an OutKast album a long time ago.”
