Andy Kim, Bobby Curtola, Chilliwack and Cowboy Junkies are the next acts to be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, it was announced Wednesday.
“We are very proud to welcome these four highly deserving artists,” said Allan Reid, president & CEO of CARAS and the Juno Awards. “Canada has such incredible talent that are represented on the international stage.”
Kim, a 72-year-old Montreal native, co-wrote hits like “Baby I Love You” and “Sugar, Sugar” and had a hit of his own with “Rock Me Gently.” Curtola, who died in 2016, is best known for his hit “Fortune Teller.”
Chilliwack, the Vancouver-based band fronted by Bill Henderson, had a string of hits that included re “My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)” and "Whatcha Gonna Do.”
The Cowboy Junkies, based in Toronto, enjoyed global success with 1988’s The Trinity Session and singles like “Sweet Jane” and “Anniversary Song.”
All four acts will be honoured next month at Studio Bell in Calgary.
Previous inductees to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame include Neil Young, Rush, The Tragically Hip and Shania Twain.
