Arcade Fire are back with a new album, Everything Now, announced Thursday (June 1). Along with the album’s announcement, the Canadian band released the title track.
Everything Now is the first album since 2013’s Reflektor. It was previously speculated that the album would be called Infinite Content. However, with the band’s penchant for guerilla marketing tactics – mysterious posters have cropped up in New York’s Soho with the word “Now” – this is to be expected. A Twitter account made to look like a Russian spambot was tweeting cryptically about the album’s details.
Produced by Arcade Fire, Pulp’s Steve Mackey, and Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, the track is a upbeat, all-encompassing song perfect for summer. It was recorded in a slew of locations, including Boombox Studios in New Orleans, Sonovox Studios in Montreal, and Gang Recording Studio in Paris. Win Butler told Radio1’s Mistajam about “Everything Now” on the air.
“There’s sort of an everything-nowness to life. I feel like almost every event and everything that happens surrounds you on all sides,” he says, “It’s trying to capture some of the experiences of being alive now in all its flaws and all its glory.”
