Kendall and Kylie Jenner issued an apology after putting up t-shirts for sale which featured icons such as Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath, with the models’ faces plastered over top. It was a complete oversight on their part, and really rubbed people the wrong way, including late rapper Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace. She called them “disrespectful , disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!”
“These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists,” the sisters’ apology read. “We are huge fans of their music and it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in any way. The tee shirts have been pulled from retail and all images have been removed. We will use this as an opportunity to learn from these mistakes and again, we are very sorry.”
In their own take on the controversy, Canadian rockers Arcade Fire are giving the Jenner sisters a taste of their own medicine. The Suburbs singers have begun selling t-shirts with their latest album’s logo, Everything Now, superimposed on top of Kendall Jenner’s face. The best part is that all of the proceeds from sales of the shirts will be donated to Partners in Health, an organization that provides medical services to impoverished communities.
The band also debuted a new song at a live performance in London on July 4. The song is titled “Chemistry”, and is the third new song we’ve heard from the upcoming album after “Creature Comfort” and “Signs of Life”. Everything Now will be available July 28. Take a listen to the live version below:
