Canadian chanteuse and shoe collector Céline Dion showed up on her socials Thursday sporting stilettos that got people thirsting… for dipping sauce.
In a photo snapped by her gay sidekick Pepe Muñoz, the 51-year-old superstar appears in a sparkling red dress and flaming, feathery shoes.
Almost everyone is loving the shoes but some clucked that they appear to be more St. Hubert than Yves Saint-Laurent.
“Work those chicken fire boots,” one person commented on Dion’s Instagram post. Another asked: “Are those chickens on her shoes?”
On Twitter, reactions included “Are they ... chicken shoes??” and “You’ve got a f**king chicken on your foot Céline! And I love it.”
In fact, the one-of-a-kind stilettos depict a phoenix rising from the flames.
They were created by Toronto set designer Caitlin Doherty, with Wilson Duong of Recess Creative and Christine Clores, and commissioned by Scotiabank Arena, where Dion performed on Dec. 9 and 10.
According to a description, the shoes are a tribute to Dion and “an artistic expression of her passion for fashion and a metaphor that represents her journey.
“The symbolism … resembles themes both Céline Dion and a Phoenix have in common: transformation and rebirth.”
The description adds: “Céline is the superstar she is today because of the experiences she has been through, which have made her strong, fierce, and resilient.”
