Ariana Grande has defended her fiancé Pete Davidson over a joke he made about the bombing outside her Manchester concert last year.
“I of course didn’t find it funny,” Grande wrote in a Twitter response to a fan. “It was months ago & his intention wasn’t/ is never malicious but it was unfortunate.”
Grande admitted “this has been [very] tough & conflicting on my heart.” She said Davidson uses comedy to help people feel better about what’s going on in the world.
Davidson, whose father died in the 9/11 attack on New York City, joked last fall about the bombing in Manchester that killed 22 people and injured hundreds. He said it made Grande realize how famous she is because “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert.”
Grande has previously said she suffers from PTSD and will probably never be able to talk about the incident without crying.
The “No Tears Left To Cry” singer and Davidson started dating in May and recently got engaged.
