When The Beatles created the iconic cover for 1967's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, they made a collage of dozens of celebrities and iconic figures that they felt described the culture of the 60s. Now, an artist has recreated the artwork using the legends we lost this year.
British artist Chris Barker included in his piece the likes of David Bowie, Glenn Frey, Prince and Leonard Cohen, even Lemmy Kilmister, although he died in late 2015. He's also had to update it following recent deaths, like Greg Lake's.
Barker explained that he didn't intend to recreate Sgt. Pepper's cover, calling it a "bit of a designer cliche," but realized "people respond to it instinctively." You can see more of his work here.
