Avril Lavigne is raising money for a deeply personal cause with a virtual concert next month.
“I’m so excited to invite you to join me & some VERY special guests for #FightLyme, a virtual concert to benefit the Lyme community,” the Canadian singer tweeted on Monday.
In a release, Lavigne said she is planning “an evening to remember full of hope, great music and exciting surprises!” The concert is billed as the only chance to see the singer perform this year.
Proceeds from the event on Oct. 24 will benefit the Avril Lavigne Foundation and the Global Lyme Alliance. Tickets for the livestream are $25 (all figures U.S.) and special bundles are available for $60 and $149.
In 2015, Lavigne said she was sick for months before being diagnosed with Lyme disease, an infection caused by a bacteria spread through ticks.
The Avril Lavigne Foundation is a registered charity in the U.S. that, according to public filings, gave about 34 percent of its revenues between 2010 and 2018 to charitable causes.
