Former U.S. president Barack Obama has included a Canadian artist on his year-end list of favourite songs.

Among the 35 tracks on his 2019 list, which Obama shared on social media on Monday, is “Go DJ” by Montreal-based KAYTRANADA ft. SiR. The song appears on his album Bubba.

“If you’re looking for something to keep you company on a long drive or help you turn up a workout, I hope there’s a track or two in here that does the trick,” Obama wrote of his list, which he noted ranges “from hip-hop to country to The Boss.”

KAYTRANADA (aka Louis Celestin) won the 2016 Polaris Music Prize and a Juno Award in 2017 – both for his album 99.9%. He also earned an iHeartRadio Much Music Video Award nomination for “Glowed Up” featuring Anderson.Paak.

Not surprisingly, Kaytranada retweeted Obama's list.

Obama’s 2019 list also has songs from Lizzo, Frank Ocean, Maggie Rogers, DaBaby and both Beyoncé and sister Solange.

In 2017, the ex-president included “Blessed” by Canada’s Daniel Caesar on his list of favourite songs.
