Basic White is the kind of band you’re going to want to tell your friends about so they can finally be as cool as you.
The London, Ont. trio – singer/guitarist Riley White, guitarist Sandro Di Stefano and drummer Jordan Wallace – is set to release their first album, The Second Half, on Feb. 22.
Earlier this month, Basic White debuted the first single, “Time To Leave,” with a brilliantly simple video (shot by Tyrone Harding and edited by White and Wallace) that shows the guys unabashedly wailing and flailing around their hometown. (If the White-guy dance moves don’t impress you much, wait for his epic 13-second air-guitar solo.)
“We ain’t crazy / We’re just self-assured,” White sings on the track, which opens with nothing but guitar and then hits you with a killer bass line and anthemic shout-outs.

Basic White has been playing catchy rock songs like this one since 2016. They’ve paid their dues with live shows of their own and opening sets for bands like Mother Mother, Our Lady Peace, Treble Charger and ill Scarlett.
While you wait for The Second Half, get acquainted with Basic White via their EP Long Time Comin'.
The indie band hits the stage at Toronto’s famed Horseshoe Tavern at 10 pm on Feb. 21. Get ready to shout “Way up! Way up!” – which is exactly where Basic White is headed.
