The battle rapper who died late last month was facing child porn and sex charges.
Tech 9, whose real name was Akhiym Mickens, was arrested on Jan. 5 in his native Philadelphia on 10 charges related to alleged offences on Nov. 14, 2018.
Mickens, who was out on $50,000 U.S. bail, died hours before his March 25th arraignment.
The 32-year-old’s death sparked confusion on social media because his stage name was similar to that of rapper Tech N9ne, who was performing in Victoria, B.C. when news of Tech 9’s death broke.
Mickens’ death is under investigation.
According to court records, Mickens’ charges included unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, indecent exposure, child pornography, indecent assault on a person less than 16, and harassment.
