BBC has announced it will air a documentary on late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain that will "tell the story in a direct and accurate way."
Moments That Shook the Music: Kurt Cobain was directed by John Osborne and is set to air on BBC 2 in the UK, along with the BBC iPlayer.
The full-length documentary will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the passing of Cobain with a range of content that celebrates and remembers his life and musical legacy. He died 30 years ago today on April 5, 1994 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Speaking with the BBC, Osborne said, “This documentary aims to demystify that moment and tell the story in a direct and accurate way with footage shot by the people who were there. Kurt Cobain was the reluctant voice of a generation and his death has left a huge void. The only way to make sense of what happened is to make a testimony that audiences won’t be able to stop watching.”
About the 45-minute film, the BBC adds, "One of musical history’s most shocking stories is told as never before, as footage captured by local fans in Seattle and raw material from news crews reporting at the time are woven together to create a picture of the events that unfolded as they happened."

Cobain's daughter paid tribute to her late father today with a touching Instagram post. "I wish I could’ve known my Dad," she wrote, in addition to a series of photos of the Nirvana singer.
