Beyoncé was the big winner at the NAACP Image Awards, which were handed out Saturday night in Pasadena.
Queen Bey won Outstanding Album (Homecoming: The Live Album), Female Artist, Traditional Song (“SPIRIT”), Contemporary Song (“Before I Let Go”), Soundtrack/Compilation Album (The Lion King: The Gift) and Variety Series or Special (Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé).
Both Beyoncé and daughter Blue Ivy were among the winners of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration for “Brown Skin Girl.”
Lizzo was named Entertainer of the Year. “I just want to shout out all the big black girls I bring onstage with me," she said while accepting the award. “I do that because I want them to know they are the trophies.”
Lizzo also took home the award for Outstanding Music Video for “Juice.”
Lil Nas X was named Outstanding New Artist and Bruno Mars won Outstanding Male Artist.
Singer Kelly Rowland’s role on American Soul earned her an award for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Comedy or Drama Series.
Rihanna gave a powerful speech while accepting the President’s Award and there were performances by Jill Scott as well as H.E.R. with Skip Marley.
